Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
InkySalt Technologies Inc. (“InkySalt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through inkysalt.com and platform.inkysalt.com (collectively, the “Service”), how we use it, and your rights regarding it. This policy is intended to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Alberta privacy legislation.
2. Information We Collect
Contact information you provide directly — name, email address, company name, and message content when you fill out a contact form, request a demo, or email us directly.
Usage data — pages visited, time on site, and general interaction data, collected via standard web analytics.
Account information (future platform feature) — if InkySalt introduces user accounts and subscriptions, we will collect the information necessary to create and manage that account, disclosed at the time that feature launches.
Scan/survey area data — for platform users, the geographic areas of interest you submit for analysis. This is operational data tied to your use of the Service, not personal information about individuals, except where it may relate to identifiable property ownership.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (health, financial account numbers, government ID numbers) through the Service.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
Respond to inquiries and provide requested demonstrations or reports;
Operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
Communicate updates about the Service, if you have opted in;
Meet legal, regulatory, or contractual obligations.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Where Your Data Is Processed
Important — please read this section carefully. While InkySalt’s satellite data sources (Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, Landsat, GEDI, ESA CCI datasets) are open international data with no proprietary vendor lock-in, the cloud infrastructure we use to process that data and operate the Service is provided by third parties, some of which are based in the United States, including:
Google Earth Engine (Google LLC) — satellite data processing
Anthropic — AI-assisted narrative generation
Cloudflare — website hosting (inkysalt.com)
Netlify — demo and client deliverable hosting (e.g., preview report links)
This means information processed through the Service may be transmitted to, stored on, or processed by servers located outside Canada, including in the United States, and may become subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including lawful access by foreign authorities. By using the Service, you acknowledge this cross-border processing.
5. Sharing of Information
We share information only with:
Service providers necessary to operate the Service (hosting, email delivery, analytics, AI processing), bound by their own data-handling terms;
Legal authorities, if required by valid legal process;
A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice provided where required by law.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Contact form submissions are retained until you request deletion or until they are no longer operationally relevant.
7. Your Rights
Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial law, you have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you;
Request correction of inaccurate information;
Request deletion of your information, subject to legal or legitimate business retention requirements;
Withdraw consent for optional communications at any time.
To exercise these rights, contact vik@inkysalt.com.
8. Cookies and Analytics
The Service may use cookies or similar technologies for basic functionality and analytics. You can control cookie behavior through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect some functionality.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed at individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last Updated” date above.
